Parents to Health Information in Fort Collins
Need
a doctor, dentist, mental health specialist, or alternative care
provider in Fort Collins? Looking for a health class in town? Want
to read up on health topics such as influenza and the immunizations
your children need?
Find
it all at healthinfosource.com, a comprehensive directory of health
resources, featuring local healthcare providers, health classes, and
health-related topics. The
web site is a free service of the Health District of Northern
Larimer County, Poudre Valley Hospital and PVH Foundation, and the
Larimer County Department of Health and Environment.
Consumers
can look up local healthcare resources from the comforts of home 24
hours a day, 7 days a week. The web site lists more than 800 Fort
Collins area healthcare organizations and serves as a central point
for finding local health classes, from yoga to childbirth
preparation.
“Studies
show more consumers are using the Internet to look up health
information. With just a click of a mouse, residents can be
connected to a host of health resources in our community,” said
Karin Meyer, project coordinator for healthinfosource.com. “Not
only can you look for a provider by name, you can search by other
criteria, such as type of provider or insurance accepted.”
To
maintain the web site’s accuracy, providers’ records are updated
regularly. There is no charge for listing. Providers are listed in
five categories:
-
Medical and primary care, including specialists
-
Dental care, including dentists, hygienists, and
orthodontists
-
Mental health and substance abuse services
-
Other health services, including physical therapists,
speech therapists, and registered dietitians
-
Complementary and alternative medicine, including
acupuncturists, chiropractors, massage therapists, and
naturopaths
In
the web site’s Health Information section, consumers can read up
on health issues. Parents might be interested in such family
friendly topics as allergies, car seats, dental care for kids,
nutrition, and blood pressure.
