Babysitting Coop

The babysitting co-op is a group of moms who share babysitting. We have weekly drop-offs and also do some trading of sitting on an individual basis. Please join us at one of our meetings to find out how we operate and how you can become involved. Please call for more information or to attend a meeting or drop-off.

Childcare Committee

Members work with the Childcare Coordinator, interview childcare workers, and ensure high quality childcare at the Mothers' Center. If you would like input on the childcare experience your children have, this is your committee.

General Volunteers:  We need general volunteers on this committee to assist when it’s time to hire additional childcare workers or for the Moms On Call List.

Finance Committee

This committee consists of the Treasurer, G/L manager and A/P manager. The treasurer is responsible for overseeing the committee as its head as well as, filing tax forms and other forms needed for payroll. The G/L manager is responsible for depositing money, reconciling the bank statements, and adjusting the accounts according to what the A/P manager does during the month. The A/P Manager pays all bills, including the semi-monthly childcare payroll.

  • Finance Contact: Gail Jensen at gjensenmc@msn.com

Volunteers are needed for this Committee:

  • Contact/Treasurer: Need to understand Quicken for the banking and monthly reports for the Steering Committee. Need a basic understanding of debits and credits and how to record each item. Coordinate on a monthly basis with the A/P manager to get all of the financial information done for the month (checks and payroll). Hold a meeting every other month with the finance committee to discuss relevant issues. On a yearly basis, needs to host a strategic planning meeting to figure out the goals of each committee and provide yearly budgets, this should be done by April of each year.

  • G/L Manager: Need to understand Quicken. On a monthly basis you will need to: Record all of the monthly checks written by the A/P Manager in the check register, reconcile the check register with the bank statement, deposit all checks and cash at the bank and record these deposits in the check register, prepare monthly income statements and balance sheets for steering meetings (this is done by Quicken software), backup the software on a disc monthly.

Membership Committee

This group is responsible for answering our voice mail, talking with people about the Mothers' Center, maintaining our mailing list, and contacting new members. If you would like to help with a job that you can do from home, this is a great committee.

Newsletter Committee

This committee collects materials for our three annual newsletters. Members write and edit articles and layout each issue. This group puts together the newsletter, handles advertisements, and coordinates mail day. If you like to write, want to keep in touch with our advertisers, or have some experience in desktop publishing, consider this committee.

  • Contact: Linnea Hallmark at tltghallmark@yahoo.com

Volunteers are needed for this Committee:

  • Advertising Coordinator: Solicit and receive advertising for newsletters and website. Three times a year, you make contact with potential advertisers, arrange to pick up the ads or have them sent to you via e-mail, forward or provide ads to Publisher, provide addresses to Mail Day Coordinator so that the advertisers get a copy or copies of the newsletter.

Programming Committee

This group puts together our exciting calendar of events, connects mothers of similarly-aged children and forms playgroups. The playgroup coordinator talks with mothers who call and advises existing playgroups. From brainstorming program ideas to recruiting program hosts to contributing to the mental health of moms, this committee is vital to the Mothers' Center success.

  • Programming Contact: Tricia Kob at tckkob@msn.com
  • Playgroup Contact: Nikole Wilcox at  lelandnikole@yahoo.com

General Volunteers:  We need general volunteers on this committee to help with Program Brainstorming and other general duties.

Public Relations Committee

The Public Relations Committee works to build relationships in the community which facilitate the mission and goals of the Mothers' Center. We work and collaborate with other parenting groups for community outreach programs, organize press releases and other promotions for Mothers' Center events, and make presentations to other organizations in the community to disseminate information about the Mothers' Center. If you are interested in helping the Mothers' Center reach more families in the Fort Collins area, this is your committee.

Steering Committee

This committee consists of all members who volunteer for positions on the MC Organizational Chart. Each month this group gets together to discuss the Mothers' Center business. Members from each MC committee usually attend, and all Mothers' Center members are encouraged to participate at this meeting. Steering Committee members take turns hosting this committee and the Secretary is the chair of the meetings.

Fundraising Committee

This committee consists of the Co-Chair Fundraising Coordinators, Grant Writers and fundraising volunteers.  This committee plans the MC fundraising events and oversees grant writing.

Volunteers are needed for this Committee:

  • Grant Writer: No experience necessary! This is a "team" position which requires an interest in drafting proposals with a group of writers who share the job of revising and editing. It could also involve researching particular grants to determine which grants are worth pursuing, and/or setting up a database to keep track of grant deadlines. This position provides a great opportunity to know the community and to build your résumé in the process.

  • Fundraising volunteers: We need general volunteers on this committee to assist at fundraising events.
