Library Storytimes Resume in September

Fort Collins Public Library invites all young children and their grownups to comfy-cozy fall storytimes now in session.  All storytimes, whether at the Main Library, Harmony Library, or Austin's Grill, take place weekly and are designed around such themes as "Quiet as a Mouse," "Let's Fly South," or "Black Cats and Scary Bats."  Bilingual storytimes (English and Spanish) will be presented during the weeks of September 19 and October 17.

Each week, staff share their love of books through stories, songs, fingerplays, and puppetry in a small-group setting.  Storytimes are wonderful opportunities for children to learn to enjoy books and group activities.  At both the Main and Harmony Libraries there are two age groups:  2- and 3-year-olds with their accompanying adults go to one room, while children aged 4 and older who are ready for a group experience on their own go to another room.  The Southeast Family Storytime at Austin's is open to all ages.

The Main Library at 201 Peterson Street has storytime on Tuesdays only, the Monday storytime having been eliminated because of budget cuts.  The 15-minute program for 2- and 3-year-olds is at 9:45 and 10:35.  The 30-minute program for children aged 4 and older is at 10:30.

Harmony Library at 4616 S. Shields has storytimes on Wednesdays and Thursdays.  The program for 2- and 3-year-olds is at 10:35 and 11:15.  The program for children ages 4 and older is at 10:30.

Southeast Family Storytime is held at Austin's Grill near Harmony and Ziegler Roads.  This 20-minute, all-ages program, funded by the Friends of the Library, is at 9:30 and 10:15.

Mondays are for Mother Goose Time, a 15-minute program for infants through 24 months and their favorite grownups.  At Mother Goose Time the earliest literacy skills are developed through song, rhyme, and movement.  Call 204-8404 for information about sessions at Harmony Library, where registration is required.  Call 221-6680 for information about drop-in sessions at Main.

All these programs are free and start promptly on schedule.  Storytime schedules with themes and times are available at both the Main and Harmony Libraries, and at this page of the Library's website:  http://fcgov.com/library/storytime.php.  We're glad to answer questions by phone, too.  Call Children's Services at 221-6680.
